Are you having difficulty affording safe utility service? There are a number of programs that may be available to help. Depending on where you live, how many people are in your household and how much money you make, you may be eligible for assistance. Contact your utility company for additional information on the specific programs they have available.

Neighbor to Neighbor Program

Appalachian Power and Dollar Energy Fund have teamed up to offer assistance to our neighbors in need. The Neighbor to Neighbor Program assists low-income Appalachian Power customers who have difficulty paying their electric bill. Eligible customers will receive a utility assistance grant applied directly to their Appalachian Power bill.

Federally Funded Program

The Energy Assistance (EA) Program is a federally funded program administered through the Department of Social Services. This program is designed to provide assistance to low-income Virginia households with their heating and cooling bills or equipment needs.
